Pakistan testfires nuke-capable missile

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistan Monday testfired a nuclear-capable ballistic missile.

A press release from the army's Inter Services Public Relations(ISPR) said the test of surface-to-surface solid-fuel missile Hatf-3 with a range of 290 km was successful.

"The indigenously produced missile" has already been tested in 2002 and 2003, said the ISPR release, adding that it has been delivered to the army in February this year.

The test was a part of a series of tests planned to be conducted in order to verify certain parameters and to further refine different subsystems of the missile, said the release.

The flight data collected indicates that all the design parameters have been successfully validated, boasted the release.

It said the nation's missile program will maintain the pace of development and tests will continue to be conducted.

This test has been informed to the South Asian neighbors, said the release.

Pakistan regularly tests its missiles and the last test was conducted on Oct. 12. Enditem
