WASHINGTON, Nov. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Yang Yang (A) from China and American Apolo Anton Ohno took 1,500-meter women and men's titles in a World Cup short-track speedskating USA stop held in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday.

Yang, who competed again after a year off, won the women's gold medal of the season, with a time of 2 minutes, 36.521 seconds.

"I love the feeling on ice," Yang, who won two gold medals in the 2002 Winter Olympics, was quoted say saying. "I don't like some of it because it's tough, but I like the feeling on the ice."

Wang Meng, who also came from China and was top-ranked at 1,500,crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified for interfering with another skater.

With the disqualification, Allison Baver of the United States (2:36.681.) was second, and Japan's Yuka Kamino was third in 2:36.790.

Ohno started back in the pack and passed skaters on the final laps, winning his second men's 1,500 of the season in 2:20.061 seconds.

Canada's Mathieu Turcotte (2:20.118) and Charles Hamelin (2:20.196) rounded out the top three in the 1,500.

Olympic bronze medalist speedskater Rusty Smith injured his back and neck when he slammed into a wall during a qualifying heat.Enditem
