BAGHDAD, Nov. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- More than 15 leading Iraqi parties called
on Friday to delay the scheduled January elections by atleast six months, the
Qatar-based al-Jazeera TV reported.
The parties signed a petition to demand the elections, slatedfor Jan. 30,
2005, be postponed by at least six months citing security concerns in the
violence-ravaged country, the report said.Prominent Sunni politician and former
Iraqi presidential
candidate Adnan Pachachi led the move.
One representative from Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's Iraqi National Accord
