BAGHDAD, Nov. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- More than 2,000 people were killed so far in the flashpoint city of Fallujah, an Iraqi senior security official said Thursday.

"More than 2,058 were killed and more than 1,600 arrested,"Iraq's interim national security adviser, Qassem Dawoud, told reporters in a press conference in Baghdad.

Fifty-four US soldiers and marines were killed in action since the beginning of the US major offensive on the insurgent hot spotof Fallujah in Nov. 8.
