RAMALLAH, Nov. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei doubted on Wednesday that the United States would change its supportive policy toward Israel.

After a meeting with Chinese peace envoy to the Middle East Wang Shijie, Qurei told reporters "what we see of settlements and construction of the security wall and the assassinations certify that Israel only wants to implement its plan to get the price forits claimed pullout from Gaza."

He reiterated the only side which is able to exert pressure onIsrael is "America", adding "I personally doubt that the United States would practice pressure on Israel to make it become committed to the peace process."

Qurei referred to the efforts of the quartet committee by sayingit is very important that the quartet exerts pressure on Israel."There are obvious conditions for the peace process which are to implement the international resolutions as well as the roadmap peace plan backed by the United States."

The Chinese envoy presented his deep condolences on behalf of the Chinese people and government for the loss of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, adding that China would be always standing by the side of the Palestinians. Enditem
