GAZA, Nov. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- An Israeli soldier was shot and wounded Wednesday
as Palestinian militants opened fire at him in the central Gaza Strip.
Saraya al Quds of Islamic Jihad and Abu Ali Mustafa of the Popular Front for
Liberating Palestine (PFLP) jointly claimed responsibility for opening fire at
the soldier in a leaflet sent to reporters.
According to the leaflet, the soldier was shot by a Palestinian sniper east
of the central Gaza town of Deir el Ballah near the settlement of Kfar Darom
while he was standing in an Israeli army lookout post.
The two groups vowed to continue attacks against the Israeli soldiers and
settlers "until they leave the occupied territories."
"This attack is an indication that armed resistance would never end," said
the leaflet.
Meanwhile, Israel Radio reported that two homemade mortar shells landed near
two Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip.
But no harms or injuries were caused by the mortars, the report said.
