
BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The president and CEO of Phoenix TV, Liu Changle has been appointed the new president of the International Emmy Awards, reported China Radio International on Wednesday.
The appointment was announced by Bruce Paisner, the president of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences before the award ceremony.
Paisner says he believes the election of Liu will help western society learn more about Asian media.
Liu's term will begin in 2005 and lasts for two years.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is the largest organization of global broadcasters, with members from 65 countries and over 350 companies.
It presents the International Emmy Award to the best television programs produced, and aired outside the U.S. since 1999. Enditem
