President Hu writes to Mubarak on Iraqi issue
www.chinaview.cn 2004-11-23 16:17:33

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao calls upon the international community to help Iraq with a fair and transparent election, China Radio International reported Tuesday.

In a letter to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Hu Jintao says the situation in Iraq is still worrying, and the only way out is to elect a government which represents a broad cross section of the Iraqi people. The United Nations should play a key role in this regard and the rational concerns of Iraq's neighbouring countries and Arab nations should also be addressed.

The letter was handed over by Chinese Ambassador to the UN Wang Guangya, who is attending an international conference on Iraq in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Enditem
