BARILOCHE, ARGENTINA, Nov. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao concluded his two-day visit to Argentina and left here for Chile Thursday morning.

    Hu and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner agreed to establish and develop "strategic partnership" during the visit, the first to Argentina by Hu as President.

    "We have decided to establish and develop strategic partnership and our friendly ties will grow comprehensively on a new basis," Hu told the press Tuesday following his meeting with Kirchner.

    The term of "strategic partnership" was the latest definition of their bilateral relations. Previously, the relationship was called "full-range cooperation partnership."

    China and Argentina signed five agreements that will allow themto expand cooperation in areas of space technology, education, tourism, railways and trade.

    The two presidents agreed to increase political trust through more personnel exchanges, to expand economic cooperation and trade,to increase educational and travelers exchanges, and to strengthen cooperation on international occasions.

    They also agreed to expand cooperation in areas of agriculture and animal husbandry, manufacturing, mineral resources, energy transportation, telecommunications, among others.

    President Kirchner said China has become Argentina's fourth largest trading partner and "best goods buyer" in Asia.

    Two-way trade reached 3.176 billion US dollars last year, up 122 percent from the year before, according to Chinese figures.

    Kirchner visited China earlier this year and the two sides signed a number cooperation documents in areas of civil aviation, public health, culture, investment and agriculture.

    China and Argentina established full diplomatic relations in 1972. Enditem
