Fatah military wing vows not to hand over weapons

RAMALLAH, Nov. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Al Aqsa martyrs brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement, announced on Tuesday that it would not hand over their weapons.

The brigades' senior leader Zakariya al Zubeidi told "Voice of Palestine" radio that the group would not hand over their weapons unless the new Palestinian leadership guarantees to carry out the national stables represented with the right of refugees' returning back and the establishment of the state of Palestine.

Al Zubeidi was quoted as saying that "so long as the Israeli occupation goes on, the resistance will continue, and the PNA's newpresident doesn't have the right to give up the Palestinian stables."

Al Zubeidi's statements came at the time that conversations inside Israel have talked about the importance that the new Paalestinian leadership would work on disarmament from the militantfactions.

"We are with democracy, but how to hold general elections under occupation? it's impossible," said al Zubeidi.

If the temporary leader of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Rawhi Fatouh would guarantee that the wanted militants can vote safely, "then I will share in the coming elections and all Palestinian militants that are wanted by Israel will vote too," he added. Enditem
