RAMALLAH, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian Prime Minster Ahmed Qurei has asked France to give him a detailed report on the cause of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's death last week, Al Jazeera television reported Monday.
Arafat, 75, died in a French military hospital on Thursday after being airlifted to Paris for urgent medical treatment from the WestBank city of Ramallah on Oct. 29.
But the cause of his death remained a mystery and stirred speculations that Arafat might have been poisoned by Israel, a charge denied by both Israeli and French officials. On Saturday, Nasser al-Kidwa, the Palestinian envoy to the United Nations and Arafat's nephew, said that there is no evidence that Israel poisoned Yasser Arafat.
Hours before Arafat's funeral on Friday, his Jordanian physicianAshraf al-Kurdi called for an autopsy, citing poisoning as a possible cause for Arafat's death.
His aides said Arafat died of a brain hemorrhage, but they did not say what illness caused this. Enditem |
