KAMPALA, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Panic hit Uganda's Entebbe International
Airport Sunday afternoon when a South African Airwayplane was forced to fly back
to the airport over a bomb scare, 30 minutes after it had taken off, reported
local press The New Vision on Monday.
Sources from the airport, over 40 km south of Kampala, were quoted as
saying that the Boeing 737 with flight number of SA 161,was destined for
Johannesburg.
The 4:00 p.m. (1300 GMT) incident was caused by discovery of a warning
written with marker pen on the toilet door on the plane, which read "There is a
bomb on this plane."
The warning was reportedly discovered by a passenger who went to the toilet
and alerted the crew.
The plane landed at the far end of the terminal. All 109 passengers on
board were made to disembark and their luggage off loaded.
An official from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority said that "we have not
yet established the exact threat." Enditem
