BRASILIA, Nov. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao put forward several proposals here Friday for stronger ties between China and Latin-America.

Addressing the National Congress of Brazil, Hu said the development of China and Latin-America has created favorable conditions for stronger cooperation.

The two sides should seize the opportunity and promote cooperation in the 21st century, he said.

Hu said China and Latin American countries should build on mutual understanding and political trust, support each other politically so as to become all-weather friends.

Economically, he said, the two sides should tap potential for economic cooperation to create a win-win situation.

The president also expressed the hope that the two sides could enhance cultural exchange, deepen mutual understanding and promotethe cultural diversification of the world.

On relations with Brazil in particular, Hu said the strengthening of strategic partnership would not only contribute to the prosperity of the two countries, but also promote world peace and development.

Before his speech, Hu met separately with leaders of both houses of parliament.

Hu arrived here Thursday for a state visit, the first leg of his four-nation Latin-American tour, which will also take him to Argentina, Chile and Cuba.

Hu is expected to attend the Economic Leaders's Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation slated for November 20-21. Enditem
