KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraqi Vice President Ibrahim Al-Jaffari, currently visiting Kuwait, said the US-Iraqi military operation in Fallujah must be carried out within certain time and geographical frames so as to avoid harm to residents in the city, the Kuwait News Agency reported Wednesday.

Jaffari was quoted as saying he stressed the importance of preserving the city and its people in talks with the United States Assistant Secretary of State Richard Armitage, hours before the operation against the rebel stronghold city of Fallujah kicked off.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi official said his visit to Kuwait aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and his talks with Kuwaiti officials would resulted in consolidate cooperation in fields of security, economy and politics.

In his interviews with local media, Jaffari said all efforts were being made for the elections due to take place in January, asserting that there was no excuse for postponement.
