Special report: Concern mounts over Yasser Arafat's
health
JERUSALEM, Nov. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The Israeli security cabinet
has given green light for Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's burial in the West
Bank city of Ramallah, local Ha'aretz daily reported
Wednesday.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon convened his
security service chiefs and senior cabinet ministers Wednesday morning to
discuss the burial site for ailing Arafat whose health condition turned to worse
at a French hospital Tuesday.
The meeting also touched
problems inherent in safeguarding foreign dignitaries who may attend the
funeral, the report said.
Palestinian Negotiations Minister
Saeb Erekat said Wednesday morning that Palestinian leadership has decided to
bury Arafat in his headquarters in Ramallah if he dies.
Israel would prefer that Arafat be buried in the Gaza Strip, but has been
resigned in recent days to a Ramallah venue. Enditem |
