Arafat to be buried in Ramallah should he die: official

    RAMALLAH, Nov. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Palestinian official saidTuesday that if Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat dies, allarrangements of funeral, burial, mourning and condolences wouldtake place at al Muqataa, Arafat's headquarters in the West Banktown of Ramallah.

    Tayeb Abdel Rahim, Arafat's office chief, said at a newsconference that if Allah's (God) will and fate happens, in otherwords if Arafat dies, "all the arrangements would take place hereat al Muqataa."

    "Al Muqataa is a symbol of the Palestinian steadfastness and thesiege has been imposed (by Israel) on President Arafat," said AbdelRahim.

    He said the Palestinian leaders in Ramallah were making contactwith officials in France, adding that the Palestinian leadershipwould convene throughout Tuesday night in Ramallah to evaluate thesituation.

    He also called for patience and self-control among Palestinianpeople and called upon them to pray and fast for Arafat "at thiscritical situation".
