BRUSSELS, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- A Muslim school in the southern Dutch city of Eindhoven was hit by a bomb blast Monday morning, according to a Radio Netherlands report monitored here.

The blast, which took place in early morning, caused no casualty but badly damaged the school entrance and windows in nearby homes.

Police authorities are linking the blast with the brutal murderof Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam last week.

They believe that the incident was retaliation for the shootingand stabbing of Van Gogh who had worked on the short film Submission, which described violent abuse sometimes committed against Muslim women.

A 26-year-old suspect, who holds Dutch and Moroccan nationality, was arrested for Van Gogh's murder and was remanded in custody foran extra 10 days on Friday.

Police also made some other arrests in connection to the murder.

Eindhoven Mayor Alexander Sakkers was quoted as saying that theschool blast prompted the city council to do everything possible to hold Eindhoven's various communities together.

All Islamic buildings in the city should now be placed under 24-hour guard. Police said there had been no definite indications prior to the bombing that an attack was in the making. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the explosion atthe Islamic school. Enditem
