www.chinaview.cn 2004-11-08 16:07:44

BAGHDAD, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- A car bomb hit a US convoy on a mainroad leading to Baghdad's airport on Monday, killing at least two Iraqi civilians, including a woman, police and witnesses said.

A four-wheel-drive vehicle was charred in the blast and another civilian car was also destroyed, according to witnesses.

They said the charred vehicle was carrying officials and foreign security guards.

US troops have cordoned the area off as warplanes and helicopters flew overhead.

The US military had no word on US casualties.

Insurgents frequently attack US convoys using the main road leading to Baghdad International Airport, near a major US military base. Enditem
