PARIS, Nov. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Three Palestinian leaders are expected to arrive in Paris on Monday to visit ailing Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier announced said Sunday.

He said Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Secretary General Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie and Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath will arrive in Paris to see Arafat who was admitted on Oct. 29 in the Percy military hospital in the southwestern Paris suburb of Clamart.

Barnier also affirmed that Arafat is "alive" and in a "very complex, very serious but stable condition."

Doctors treating Arafat have ruled out leukaemia but remain puzzled as to why his health deteriorated sharply last week.

"The organs in the lower part of Arafat's body have not been functioning well. However, his heart and brain are working still,"a Palestinian official in Paris said.

In Ramallah, Palestinian Foreign Minister Shaath told reporters Sunday that their travel to Paris is to check the conflicting reports about Arafat's health.

Since Arafat has been transferred to the hospital in France, Qurei has been chairing the Palestinian cabinet and the national security council, while Abu Mazen chairs the PLO and Fatah movement central committee.

The two are working to form a unified leadership and prevent chaos in the Palestinian self-rule areas.

Meanwhile, the 75-year-old Arafat's subordinates in the West Bank decided to carry out a plan to restore law and order to the Palestinian territories. It was the first major decision they had announced since Arafat left.

Calling for more security forces to be deployed, the plan also bans militants from carrying arms except when confronting Israel and from intervening in local disturbances.

Arafat spent the fifth day in intensive care Sunday at the French military hospital. Once again, there were conflicting reports about whether he was in a coma.

One of his senior aides Nabil Abu Rdeneh denied Arafat was in coma after leaving the hospital.

On Saturday, hospital spokesman Gen. Christian Estripeau described Arafat's condition as identical to a day earlier, when he said there had been no change for better or worse. The hospitalhas refused to elaborate, citing the family's wishes.

Aides said Arafat had undergone further medical tests and results are expected within days.

Arafat first fell ill nearly a month ago with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. He was airlifted to France from his West Bank compound in Ramallah. On Wednesday, his condition deteriorated and he was moved to an intensive care unit. Enditem
