BAGHDAD, Nov. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Three Iraqi officials from the eastern province of Diyala have been found killed in the rebellious area south of Baghdad, local police said Sunday.

The three officials, Diyala's deputy governor Jassim Mohammed, Diyala provincial council member Shahab Makki, and deputy head of Baquba municipality Duraid Fadel, were killed and their bodies were found in the restive area of Latifiya, some 50 km south of Baghdad, police said.

The victims were on their way to the holy city of Najaf for the burial of the mayor of Hebheb who was killed by gunmen on Thursday.

Insurgents frequently target Iraqi government officials who are seen as collaborators with the US-led forces.  Enditem
