www.chinaview.cn 2004-11-07 13:33:48

BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- The US forces pounded the Iraqi city of Fallujah late Saturday.

Local residents said the strikes started before midnight and US warplanes dropped bombs in three neighbourhoods inside the city and artillery fire hit an area in the east, China Radio International reported Sunday.

There was no report of casualties in the fresh attack.

A series of air and ground fire strikes late Friday and early Saturday left at least three people dead and seven others injured, including some women and children.

Meanwhile, the US and Iraqi ground forces were moving towards the outskirts of Fallujah and warning the citizens to desert the city.

Over half of the about 300,000 residents have so far fled. Enditem
