BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran says it is optimistic about the outcome
of the nuclear talks with the European Union (EU) while all negative
consequences have been taken into cautious account.
Government spokesman Abdollah Ramezanzadeh was quoted as saying that "Iran has ruminated over
all of the consequences if its nuclear talks with the EU fail, but still
considered failure a remote probability."
Ramezanzadeh added that he believed the international community would be
unlikely to adopt harsh measures against Iran since the decision would not harm
only one side, China Radio International reported on Monday.
Iran and the EU held two rounds of fruitless nuclear talks in Vienna in
late October.
The European trio of France, Germany and Britain offered to supply Iran
with necessary nuclear technology and equipments, including a light-water
reactor, in return for Tehran's unlimited suspension of uranium enrichment.
Iran at first termed the proposal as "unacceptable" but softened its stance
later.
However, Iranian Supreme Leader Seyed Ali Khamenei has said that unlimited
suspension of enrichment was an "illogical demand" and Iran would reject it.
