Palestine urges Arab countries to offer financial aid
www.chinaview.cn 2004-11-01 20:44:31

RAMALLAH, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- A Palestinian official on Monday urged Arab countries to offer financial aid to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) immediately.

Chief of the Finance Affairs Committee in the Palestinian Legislative Council, Sa'edi al Kronz, said that Arab financial aid would be used to pay salaries for PNA employees as well as to offer basic services for the Palestinian people.

Al Kronz said that the PNA would not be able to pay salaries for all the civilian and army employees next month.

He said that the Palestinian finance minister has gotten a loan from local banks to pay salaries for Palestinian employees this month.

He said that Israel's closure on the Palestinian territories has worsened the Palestinian economy, adding that people living below poverty exceed 70 percent of the Palestinian population. Enditem
