RAMALLAH, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- The Palestinian Legislative Council(PLC) has stressed that Palestinian institutions must carry out their duties, PLC members said on Monday.
The PLC held an urgent meeting on Sunday in light of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's illness, during which the legislators wished Arafat to return to the Palestinian territories safely.
Chief of PLC Rawhi Fatouh said that existing law was adequate to cope with power vacuum left by Arafat's absence, therefore, no new legislation was needed.
The PLC called Arab countries and the international community to guarantee Arafat's return to the Palestinian territories.
The PLC also called on the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization to exert all efforts to protect the Palestinians and their properties. Enditem
