PARIS, Oct. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- France on Wednesday urged the international community to mobilize to make the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip a victory for the interests of all.

"The international community should mobilize so that the withdrawal will be a victory, for the interests of all," French Foreign Ministry spokesman Herve Ladsous quoted French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier as saying during his latest visit to Israel.

"We take note of Knesset's (Israeli parliament) backing to the withdrawal plan from Gaza, decided by (Israeli) Prime Minister Ariel Sharon," Ladsous said at a news conference.

"It is an important step, which should be enrolled in the road map and allows boosting the implementation of the Quartet's peace plan of (the United States, European Union, United Nations and Russia)," said the spokesman.

"It is essential that the withdrawal be carried out, as the European Union stressed, along with the Palestinian Authority," Ladsous said, adding "It is an essential element of the road map to end the violence from one side and the other." Enditem
