ABU DHABI, Oct. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) has approved 10 million US dollars in aid to the Palestinian people, the official WAM news agency reported here Monday.
The AMF has decided to allocate 10 million dollars from its net profits for 2003 to help the Palestinian people, Jassim Al Manai, AMF Board Chairman, was quoted as saying.
He said the decision was taken during a meeting with Palestinian Finance Minister Fayad Salam on the sidelines of the World Bank-International Monetary Fund conference which took place in Washington recently.
Five million dollars of the assistance will be directed to the education sector, Al Manai noted.
The Abu Dhabi-based AMF offered 12 million dollars to the Palestinians in 2001, reported WAM. Enditem |
