Israeli occupation is reason for violence
www.chinaview.cn 2004-10-25 19:03:09

RAMALLAH, Oct. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Palestinian official said Monday that Israel's continued attacks against the Palestinians would further worsen relations between Palestinians and Israelis.

Palestinian Minister of Labor, Ghassan el-Khatib, told the Voice of Palestine that the Israeli occupation of the territories was the reason for the current violence.

"What is going on in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Yunis is part of the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people," he said.

He said that Israel was taking advantage of the international community's refusal to take any political move, saying that the Israeli attack on Khan Yunis matches Israel's concept of the withdrawal plan -- leaving the lands destroyed.

"The only way to achieve security and peace is to recognize the Palestinian people's legal rights and restart the peace process that guarantees an end to occupation," he stressed. Enditem
