GAZA, Oct. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- More than 1,200 Palestinian university students can not start or continue their study abroad due to an Israeli travel ban imposed on Palestinians aged between 16 and 35, Palestinian center for human rights reported on Sunday.

The student who study abroad are prevented from traveling through the Rafah crossing in the borders between Egypt and Gaza Strip so as to overtake their universities, said the center.

In a statement, the center called upon the international society, especially the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO) to interfere and press Israel to allow Palestinian students to travel abroad to continue their study.

Starting on April 16, the Israeli government banned Palestinians aged between 16 and 35 from traveling abroad through the Rafah crossing, preventing about 13 percent of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip from traveling abroad. Enditem
