Israeli warships shell northern Gaza Strip

    GAZA, Oct. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli warships shelled at predawn Sunday the al Sudaneya coastal area in the east of the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahia, Palestinian security sources said.

    The sources said several army warships shelled the residents' houses in the area, causing severe damage to the houses. No injuries were reported.

    Meanwhile, Israeli troops backed by several tanks and armed vehicles invaded at predawn the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, according to Palestinian sources.

    The sources also said the troops opened intensive fire and razed down several houses in Beit Hanoun before withdrawal. Enditem
