S.Korean court rules government plan to build new capital unconstitutional

    SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- South Korean Constitutional Court Thursday ruled the government's plan to move administrative capital out of Seoul as unconstitutional, Justice President of thecourt Yun Young-chul announced the ruling in a televised program.

    The South Korean government selected Yeongi-Gongju region in South Chungcheong Province, some 250 kilometers south to Seoul, asnew site for the administrative capital in this August.

    On July 12, a group of 169 people, including 50 Seoul municipalcouncil members, filed a petition, questioning the constitutionality of the government plan. Enditem
