8 mortar bombs discovered in Manila residential area

    MANILA, Oct. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Eight mortar bombs with radius as 81mm were discovered outside a residential area in Metro Manila, the place near a former Japanese garrison, a local radio reported Tuesday.

    According to the radio dzMM, the personnel of the Manila Water Cooperation discover the bombs in an excavation site in Quezon City.

    Officials told the radio that another 11 81mm mortar bombs werealso discovered Monday in the same excavation site.

    The residential area is near a former garrison of Japanese soldiers during World War II, the report said.

    Police bomb experts have been placed at the area to defuse the bombs, it added. Enditem
