BAGHDAD, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- One US soldier died of wounds sustained in a car bombing in Baghdad Sunday morning, the US military said.

"One Task Force Baghdad Soldier died of wounds received when a vehicle-borne explosive device detonated in eastern Baghdad," the US military said in a statement.

Earlier Sunday, another US military statement said two car bombing attacks took place Sunday morning. The first blast targeted a US military convoy at about 7:15 a.m. (0415 GMT) in eastern Baghdad, wounding one US soldier.

A second car bomb was detonated an hour later, near the country's Oil Ministry in which a spokesman said 17 people were killed.

Over 1,065 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the US invasion to the country began in March 2003.  Enditem
