GAZA, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Several Palestinian national and Islamic
factions on Sunday called on the Palestinians to boycott importing Israeli
consuming products, especially during the Muslims fasting month of Ramadan.
The fasting month of Ramadan comes once every year, when millions of Muslims all over
the world fast about 13 hours from dawn to sunset everyday during the whole
month.
Palestinian Muslims, who fast in Ramadan, usually consume food products,
including Israeli food products that they usually buyfrom Israel. Palestinian
economists believe that Gaza is a huge consuming market for Israeli products.
Bassam al Salhi from the Palestinian committee to boycottIsraeli products
said during the Ramadan, Palestinian markets are specifically filled with
Israeli products.
He said the boycott would include three kinds of food products, namely
juices, dates and soups, which the Palestinians are consuming and have
alternative local products.
The Palestinians in Gaza also consume rice, flour, sugar andbutter as well
as fruits and vegetables from Israel because they don't produce any kinds of
these things.
Al Salhi said different factions convened and decided to followup the case
during Ramadan in the fields and in markets, adding that there might be a
decision to stop importing the three kinds of food products from Israel.
"Israelis should know that it has to pay the price of itsongoing military
aggression that is practiced against our people everyday," Al Salhi said, adding
that the boycott would cause severe damage to many Israeli companies.
