France to reinforce security after explosion in Paris
www.chinaview.cn 2004-10-09 04:49:51

PARIS, Oct. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- French Interior Minister Dominique deVillepin announced Friday that France is to reinforce security in sensible places, especially around embassies after the explosion near the Indonesian embassy in Paris.

"Protection of sensitive sites, notably diplomatic missions, will be reinforced," the interior minister said after a meeting of intelligence chiefs.

A bomb exploded in the early hours Friday morning in front of the Indonesian embassy located in the 16th district of Paris. Police said 10 people were injured in the explosion, including four embassy workers.

"It was an explosive device placed in front of the embassy -- probably a bomb of medium size which shattered windows up to 30 meters away and damaged several vehicles parked around it," De Villepin told reporters at the scene.

Most of the wounded were hurt by flying glass and had been taken to hospital, he said. Enditem
