Susilo urges protection for Indonesians living in France

    JAKARTA, Oct. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesian President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Friday urged the French government to provide further protection for Indonesian people and assets in the country following a blast outside the Indonesian embassy earlier in the day.

    "The French government must provide protection for Indonesian citizens and assets there," Susilo told Jakarta-based Sonora Radioat his residence in Bogor, 20 km south of Jakarta.

    He said he is "very sad" with the attack, which caused no serious injuries.

    Retired army general Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a former top security minister, has been officially declared winner in the presidential election and will be sworn in on Oct. 20. Enditem
