HAVANA, Oct. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli Communist Party leader Issam Makhoul on Wednesday denounced his country's occupation of Palestinian land and recent escalation of violence against Palestinians.

Makhoul, a member of Israel's Knesset (parliament), met here Wednesday with Humberto Hernandez, executive secretary of the Organization of Solidarity with the Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

More and more people in Israel oppose the escalation of violence against the Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza Strip, said Makhoul.

After being briefed on the background and goals of Hernandez's organization, Makhoul described Cuba as a force against US global dominance.

"It is necessary to mobilize all forces to struggle for a multilateral world, and Cuba could play an important role in the realization of this goal," said the Israeli lawmaker.

Makhoul is on a week-long tour of Cuba at the invitation of the Communist Party of Cuba. He will meet Cuban parliament leader Ricardo Alarcon on Friday. Enditem
