Senior Palestinian official condemns US veto on UN resolution

RAMALLAH, Oct. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat condemned on Wednesday the United States' veto on a UN resolution which called upon Israel to end its military offensive in the northern Gaza Strip.

Erekat told reporte rs that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) condemned the US veto and considered it as locking all the doors of international diplomacy for the Palestinian people to end Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Erekat said the US veto on Tuesday gave Israel a green light to continue its aggressions and massacres against the Palestinian people.

"The United States is not considering the position of the Arab world," Erekat said. "All what we demand is to stop the awful aggressions in the northern Gaza Strip, but this veto shows the wide gap between the United States and the Arab world." However, Erekat said the Palestinians would not give up but continue knocking at the doors of the UN Security Council and other international organizations.

On Sept. 29, the Israeli Army launched large-scale operations in the northern Gaza Strip. More than 80 Palestinians have been killed and dozens injured so far. Enditem
