UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- The draft resolution condemning Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip is "totally one-sided" and it will not go forward, US Ambassador to the UN John Danforth said here Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters before the 15-member council's meeting ona draft resolution prepared by Algeria and Tunisia, Danforth said that if the draft were to be passed, it could be the most terrible council resolution.

"Our view is that it is very important to resume the peace process that outlined the Roadmap," he said.

The political settlement for the crisis could be reached only if "the United Nations in general and the Security Council in particular take a balanced position," said the US ambassador.

"The problem with this resolution is that there is nothing balanced about it, it is totally one-sided," he said.

"I'd like to predict that it will not go forward," said the ambassador who had veto power that can kill the Arab draft even ifit got the support of all other council members. Enditem
