Israeli troops wound four children demonstrators in central Gaza

    GAZA, Oct. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Dozens of Palestinian children demonstrated on Saturday morning in the central Gaza in protest against Israel's large-scale military operation, Palestinian security sources and witnesses said.

    The children marched through the streets of Deir el Ballah until they reached the eastern part of the town near the Jewish settlement of Kfar Darom guarded by Israeli soldiers.

    The witnesses said as soon as the soldiers saw the demonstration, they opened fire at the marching people, wounding at least four children.

    Dozens of children then began throwing stones at the soldiers who kept shooting at them.

    Ambulances took the four wounded children to hospitals for treatment, and medics said the number of casualties was expect torise since the clash were still going on.

    The Israeli army has carried out a large-scale military operation in norther Gaza since Tuesday night, killing at least 50 Palestinians and wounding more than 200 others. Enditem
