Hamas conditions on stopping rocket attacks
www.chinaview.cn 2004-09-30 21:24:24

GAZA, Sept. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas announced Thursday that it is willing to stop rocket attacks at Israel if the latter stops military offensives in the territories.

Sa'eed Seyam, a senior Hamas leader, said in a written statement sent to the press that the Palestinians are allowed to use "all types of resistance against the enemy with no mercy."

"Firing Qassam rockets at the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 is a self-defense," Seyam said, adding that "the Israeli government is totally held responsible for this escalation.

"Two children were killed Wednesday in the southern Israeli town of Sderot after Hamas militants fired two Qassam rockets. Seyam said firing the homemade rockets at southern Israel was "part of the Palestinian self-defense," however, he added that "if Israel stops aggression, the militants will stop firing rockets."Enditem
