KABUL, Sept. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The US-led coalition forces have arrested another 15 suspected Taliban militias in southeast Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan, US military spokesman said here Wednesday.

"The incident happened in Shakin near Pakistani border. We detained 15 Anti-Coalition Militia (ACM) and destroyed their positions," Scott Nelson told reporters.

Air support and cooperation from Pakistani troops have helped the coalition to arrest these militias and destroy their positions.

"A Pakistani force assisted coalition forces by intercepting these foreign fighters as they fled," the spokesman said but declined to disclose their identities.

More than 75,000 Pakistani troops have been engaged in a clean-up operation against the Taliban and al-Qaeda terrorist network inthe Pashtun-belt semi-autonomous tribal area since early this year.

Over 30 suspected Taliban, according to US military, have been detained since early last month in the troubled, southeast, east and south Afghanistan.

Remnants of the former Taliban whose regime was ousted under a US-led military campaign in late 2001 have vowed to continue Jihador holy war until the US-dominated foreign troops withdraw from Afghanistan. Enditem
