KHARTOUM, Sept. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- An international charity organisation, the Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), has called for an immediate increase of aid to Sudan's war affected region of Darfur,English-language newspaper Khartoum Monitor reported Wednesday.
According to an epidemiological survey MSF has conducted, the overall level and quality of aid in Darfur remains insufficient. The health and nutritional situation there could deteriorate further, it warned.
Vince Hoedt, coordinator of MSF's programme in South Darfur, noted that "up to 66,000 displaced people in Darfur continue tolive without adequate food or sanitation."
Hoedt took the Kalma refugee camp as an example, saying the refugees there are completely dependent on food distributions that are irregular and insufficient.
More people fleeing violence in the region continue to arrive inthe Kalma refugee camps," said Hoedt, adding "MSF is providing health care and nutritional support in Kalma camp, but more isurgently required to prevent the situation from getting worse."Enditem
