Confucius is now handsome
www.chinaview.cn 2004-09-29 09:39:30

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- At the 2004 China Qufu International Confucius Cultural Festival, a bronze statue of Confucius and some new pictures depict the great philosopher as a handsome man.

For millennia, the famous ancient thinker was described as ugly, as Chinese people traditionally believe that all extraordinary people look bizarre, reported China Radio International.

The new image of Confucius has pleased many researchers and residents of the sage's hometown, who refer to historical records that say Confucius was indeed a good-looking fellow.
