Colombia sends humanitarian aid to Haiti, Grenada

    BOGOTA, Sept. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- The Colombian government Tuesday sent 25 tons of humanitarian aid to Haiti and Grenada in response to their urgent petition following the attacks by hurricane or tropical storm, said the Colombian Foreign Ministry.

    The aid, consisting of food and medicine, was transported to Haiti and Grenada by a a Colombian Air Force (FAC) Hercules C-130,said the Foreign Ministry.

    Eight private companies and organizations cooperated with the government and the military in shipping these materials.

    Tropical storm Jeanne killed more than 1,500 people and left 1,251 missing in Haiti, while hurricane Ivan killed 39 in Grenada and destroyed 90 percent of the houses on the island. Enditem
