BEJIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Sixteen Chinese TV channels will open in the United States at the beginning of next month.

    The channels are from China Central Television, or CCTV, local television channels, Hong Kong Asia Satellite and Phoenix TV. CCTV provides two channels: CCTV-Entertainment and CCTV-Traditional Chinese Opera and Music.

    Officials say CCTV-4 has been broadcasting in the US for 11 years and attracted a number of regular viewers. But one channel is not satisfying audience demands.

    These 16 channels will be organized into a China TV program platform to broadcast them together.
