Beijing, Sept. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- A scientific study shows that audio spam, or spit, will be a new headache for Internet users.
The study is carried out by a Maryland-based technology company, China Radio International reported Monday.
The company argues that spit comes into being with the increasing popularity of Internet telephony, which involves making phone calls using the Internet instead of traditional phone lines.
The company makes it clear that Internet telephony is very appealing to spammers because based upon Internet protocols, this technology can easily send one message to thousands of recipients, the same trick as spam has been practicing.
Later, the company ran a simulation and found that a computer could be programmed to send 1000 messages per minute through Internet Telephony.
At present, this company has filed two patent applications for technology to thwart spit.
