ATHENS, Sept. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- China has surpassed the gold medal tally of 34 achieved at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games when a female swimmer won a gold medal at the Athens 2004 Paralympic games here Friday afternoon.
Zhu Hongyan, who won a stunning sum of five gold medals with two world records in Sydney, took the women's S12 class 100 meters freestyle event in one minute 1.99 seconds in the Olympic Aquatic Center here.
It was the second gold medal for the 29-year-old and China's 35th in Athens.
China won 34 gold, 22 silver and 16 bronze for a medal tally of 72 in the Sydney games four years ago. Enditem |
