ATHENS, Sept.23 (Xinhuanet)-- As shooting competitions of Athens Paralympic Games concluded Thursday, Sweden emerged as the ruling force in the sport with four gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
The Swedish dominance in the 6-day contests came as its legendary shooter Jonas Jacobsson won four of the total 12 shooting events.
The rest eight golds were divided among South Korea, Germany, Russia, Turkey, China, Finland, Britain and New Zealand.
China, which sent 3 men and 4 women in 9 shooting events, did not perform well.
China's only shooting gold medal was grabbed by Li Jianfei on Sept. 18, the first day of shooting contests. It is also the first gold for China in Athens Paralympic Games, but it is the only medal in shooting event.
According to Zhang Jing'an, manger for China's Paralympic shooting squad, it is the psychological weakness that stopped China to get more medals.
Shooting was first included in Paralympic Games in Toronto in 1976. So far it only covers pistols and rifles.
A total of 141 shooters from 35 countries and regions compete in Athens. Enditem
