BISHKEK, Sept. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Nikolai Tanayev, signed on Wednesday a joint communique in which they agreed to expand cooperation in thefields of transportation, energy, agriculture, food processing, electric machinery, aviation, textiles and finance.

    Both sides also expressed satisfaction over the development of their trade and economic cooperation.

    The two governments in the communique also pledged to further facilitate trade, investment and other economic activities betweenthe two countries.

    As members of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the two countries are willing to observe the rules of the WTO and cooperate in bilateral trade and multilateral trade, said the communique.

    The two sides will encourage trade along their border, further expand the capacity of transportation between the two countries and deepen cooperation in the fields of energy and mineral resources.

    They also agreed to boost ties in culture, science and technology, education, sports and tourism.

    China and Kyrgyzstan spoke highly of their bilateral ties and reiterated that a long-term stable and good-neighborly relationship is in the interest of both countries, said the communique.

    The two governments pointed out in the communique that the signing of the protocol on the demarcation of the boundary betweenthe two countries marked the settlement of issues left over by history and was of great significance to the two sides.

    China also expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for recognizing China as a fully functioning market economy, said the communique.

    Kyrgyzstan reiterated in the communique that there is only one China in the world and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.

    The Kyrgyz government will not establish any official relationswith Taiwan and opposes the separatist attempts of "two Chinas" "one China, one Taiwan" or "Taiwan independence."

    China and Kyrgyzstan respect each other's pattern of development and should not allow the existence of organizations which are detrimental to the other side's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, said the communique.

    During his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Wen met with Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev, Tanayev and parliamentary leaders and exchanged views with them on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern. Enditem
