ATHENS, Sept. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Bian Jianxin of China and Fatma Omar of Egypt gave the most outstanding powerlifting show at the 12th Paralympic Games here on Tuesday.

Bian broke a total of eight world and Paralympic records in the women's 48kg class. Bian, 30, started her attempts with a 112.5kg and finished in 118kg, smashing all previous records.

Amalia Perez-Vasquez of Mexico won the silver with 110kg and Olena Kiseolar of Ukraine took the bronze with 95kg.

In the women's 56kg bodyweight category, Omar broke a total of six world and Games records during her farewell competition. The Egyptian champion lifted 130kg in an attempt that turned out to be the last of her career, as she confessed after the medal ceremony.

Nigerian Patience Aghimile Igbiti came second with 122.5kg (a world record for just a minutes), complaining for unfair judges' decisions. Hou Zhenling of China won the bronze medal with 112.5kg.

Tamara Podpalnaya of Russia failed to set a new world record, after missing her fourth attempt in 131kg. However, she won easily in the women's 52kg class.

Podpalnaya lifted a Games record weight of 127.5kg, 20 kilos heavier than second-placed Abir Nail of Egypt. Yang Yan of China won the bronze medal with 102.5kg.

In the men's 52kg class, Osama Ele Serngawy of Egypt proved his dominance by winning the gold medal with a 177.5kg lift. Wu Guojing of China was placed second with 172.5kg and Gholambhossein Chaltoukkar of Iran came third with 165kg. Enditem
